Title: jpac / ipac
Post by: spookster on June 30, 2005, 10:46:49 am
Can a jpac be used in the place of an ipac? The reason I ask is that I have a spare jpac from a previous project and now have a cab I want to MAME via a pc monitor but would rather not buy an ipac/keywiz unless I have to.
Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

I don't see why it wouldn't work.  It might be tough wiring buttons to it.

It's completely doable, but it's going to be a pain in the butt if you dn't have a JAMMA harness installed.. You can solder everything to the edge connector, but you're not going to like it.

Thanks for the quick replies. Yes the cab is completely empty atm but I do have a spare jamma harness so that may be the way to go...
So when wiring it up would you only wire the buttons/joysticks to the jamma harness & leave the rgb power wires blank as they would never be used?
cheers

You just don't use the wires that come out for the video. I wouldn't remove the wires just in case you ever decide you want them. Just leave them unplugged and tied off.

You can always sell the J-Pac and buy an I-Pac.
