Title: Backing up to an older version of MAME...
Post by: Sinner on June 29, 2005, 04:14:54 pm
I have MAME .88 and .91 (for the most part, I'm not very good with all these MAME sorting and rebuilding applications yet)...

I would like to build a set of MAME .55 or .65 to run on an older machine...is there a recommended way of doing this, or is it even possible?

Then use the 'rebuilder' function.

There will be ROMs that have been redumped since that time that the rebuilder won't like.

Does that mean that those games are lost or will be unusable?

Hey Sinner,

For those with changed dumps you'll need the 'old roms'.  Some times you can find  *rollback sets* laying around(*) or just redump your garage full of boards..heh

I have been wondering if it makes sense to have multiple builds of Mame to support some of the 'older builds'/dumps that some say are better.

Galaga and Asteroids have been mentioned.  Not sure if it's worth the trouble though.
