Title: Wiring up a game counter
Post by: 2PacMan on June 28, 2005, 08:33:40 am
I bought an existing cab, turned it into my MAME cab, and now it's fully functional.  I left the game counter in it, and it doesn't work now, but still has the wires and everything coming out of it.   Anyone know what kind of power this needs to get it working??  I'm running my coin door lights off of a 12 v power supply, can i just splice into those wires??  Or does it need to be wired into the coin door switch wires that are connected to the IPAC?  I guess i'm a little confused as to exactly how the counter works?  Does it get a hit every time a quarter gets inserted, or does it sense a "play" another way?  BTW, if it helps any, my cab is a black "dynamo" cab, i have no idea what it was before, but the side art was not painted over or anything, it looks like just a generic black cab with either no side art, or a side art vinyl sticker that was removed.  The counter is in the bottom section of the coin box area of the over/under coin door.

check my page in the BYO section. Some requires 5/6vdc and some 12vdc or 24vdc. Just make sure you get/have a 5/6vdc if connecting to the IPAC.

Randy Fromm's website under his technical section has a topic called Meter Methods on connecting coin counting meters properly.
