Title: What do you connect to the + and - parts on a jpac?

my jamma cab has a speaker wired into the jamma harness. i'm not far off from putting a computer with the cab and obviously i want sound.  whilst i can have a pair of speakers plugged into the computer i'd much prefer the sound to be sent directly to the existing mono speaker at the top of the cab.

is there an easy way of doing this? i noticed that there are + and - screw connections on the j-pac. what are these used for?

I just got a J-Pac and was wondering the same thing. I'm guessing that you connect your unamplified sound-out from your soundcard to an amp using a mono cable (or just connect the left or right of a stereo cable), then to the + and - connections of the J-Pac. Then just make sure everything is set to mono sound.
I'm using an old ISA soundblaster, I wonder if it's already got amplified output...

The JAMMA standard is mono sound. The JAMMA edge connector speaker wires are routed to screw connectors on the J-PAC.

These connections can be used to connect a powered PC sound card to the cabinet speaker.

Alternatively for better quality stereo sound, simply use a normal pair of PC speakers, either powered or passive, and place inside the cabinet or wire to the cabinet speaker(s).

Most SB cards that are amplified will actually have a volume control on the back of the card. Check for that.

It's not as simple as just using the left or right outputs from the sound card.

These pages have info on how to electrically combine stereo into mono without damaging anything...

The speaker pins are used.  So you are probably right.

Then do what krick posted aobut stereo-mono.

I wish there was a good way to go form mono to stereo that works with Y connectors...
OT cmment.  I made a headphone amp for my bass guitar.  But since the guitar is mono I made a mono amp.  I just have a jumper going to both headphone speakers.  I want to add a CD input but as it stands that would end up converting the CD to mono.  Not bad for practicing I suppose.
