...so i made my first attempt at setting up a layout in MAMEWAH. The config utility made me set the "Installed layouts" folder as the default for the global option.
So i read the necessary info and rename a Spiderman 800X600 layout (that unzipped to the Installed layout folder) as "MAME32-List name.lay"
I set the background file as "MAME32-List name-main.jpg" and it appears as a preview under the layout browser on the config utility. I click on it, save everything, then exit the config utility.
Then i click on the icon to start MAMEWAH and it starts up with it's defaults. When i go back to the "Installed layouts folder" both files are completely gone. It's happened more than once.
Any thoughts?

You should have your layout saved in the layouts/custom folder and your ini set to custom to get it to work.

I didn't have a "custom" folder, i had a "downloaded layout" folder and a "installed layout" folder.

Nothing, huh? :-\

Check out this site:
http://home.comcast.net/~cpviewer/index.html
Also read the layout docs....
I've never used the setup program for MAMEwah, so I'm not sure how that works...
Hope this helps....
Oh, try using the command line version of MAME as well...

Thanks for the effort surf, but i don't think that site will help (unless i try his layout instead and it somehow sticks). i've read through all of the layout docs that i could find, but i'm either missing something or there's something going on with the config utility.
I appreciate the help though.
