Title: Rewiring computer speakers volume

I'd like to know if anyone can tell me the easiest way to reroute the volume control for my cab?... i tried buying a pot from radioshack and it worked but i got this terrible hum along with the audio.. any ideas? thanks

For one you must use shielded wire and all of the shields will need to be connected together for example: from the computer to the potentiometer and then to the amp. Same basic configuration that's in computer speakers but just use the shielded wire.

Also tie the shields to the back of the potentiometer and the nut around the shaft, otherwise you may get hum when someone has there hand on/near the control.
