I just found out today that Greater Southern has jamma cabinets (everything except controls and board) with 27" monitor for $1700. Since I drive past them everyday going to work, this would be *REAL* easy to pickup and use. I went and looked at the cabinet today at lunch and they do look very nice ... they appear to be the "real thing" built by an actual arcade company.
This definitely sound a lot easier than building my own cabinet (hey, I can build the heck out of a PC and am a wiz with a slobbering iron, but haven't done woodworking since High School!)
Is $1700 a good price? Any suggestion of things to look for before moving forward? Is a JAMMA cab with J-PAC the way to go for your first MAME build?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

NO !..what you crezy :o.
You could buy jamma cabinets for like $200 with 25" monitor.with no games.I DONT KNOW WHAT THE SELLER IS SMOKING DOWN THERE YO >:(.
$1700 seems little(...ok too) funny.
...take a look at this one

..i wish i had money to buy this but i spent everything on the current cabinet i have.yes i the kinda person who has no money at all(18+part time work+collage).
I would get this cabinet and at any cost if i could but again..money is the problem..its goin really cheap too.damn it >:(.only $500 now with 33" arcade monitor and a mint company built dream come true cabinet.
also,i would avoid J-pac and go scan converter.that way..you can freely use windows on arcade monitor.

Easy for half that you could buy a decent cabinet including shipping to you from almost anywhere in the country.

for $1700 you could build one nice cabinet!!!
-
Yeah, my cabinet probably cost me about $1000 so far to build it. (there's alot of stuff not in it yet)

It's overpriced to convert into a mame cabinet. It's a good deal if your an arcade opertor and are looking for a jamma cabinet.
-
it's good if you demand a perfect cabinet. because you're never going to get a "perfect new" cabinet secondhand.
