my arcadevga card i received from ultimarc was faulty so it's gone back. i've tried powerstrip and because my graphics card is a basic one the custom resolution settings arent available (the option is greyed out and unclickable).
is there a way of getting mame to run on my arcade monitor (via the jpac) without using an arcadevga card? i've tried booting my pc straight into a dos command prompt after xp loads but still the display on the arcade monitor is crap.
thanks in advance for any input!

Yes it would, depending on your card. You could try having a look around here.

He offers many different configurations for DOS and arcade monitors. Very easy to setup also.
**EDIT** I believe he is also a member of the forum, although right off hand I can't think of his name.

AdvanceMame with pure DOS (nothing after Win98SE) or Linux will work with most all video cards, except many on-board only videos, and drive an arcade monitor perfectly with a little configuration.

my computer has got on-board video.
will a computer that boots straight into a game work with standard mame?

when connected to an arcade monitor without arcadevga?

I've never used an arcadeVGA card. I use DOSfrom 98SE and AdvanceMAME. Works great, and it may work with your on-board video. (depends on the chip it's based on).
