Title: Build your own Karaoke?
Post by: tapnout on June 23, 2005, 02:58:08 pm
Anybody know any good site? I have a good idea on how to make it. Shouldn't be to hard using a computer and an video card witha  tv out. I have cdg's and vcd's of my own i can rip. Anyone have any input on this though? I have seen some karaoke systems costing over 4grand. And all it is a computer. Thanks.

I'm not into karaoke at all so I don't have a lot of useful input, but I think there's something available for the X-Box. That may be your cheapest route.

The DDR simulator Dance With Intensity has a Karaoke mode, but you'd have to set up your own songs ( I don't think it supports standard karaoke formats)

Just buy a Microphone and a speaker or an amp.  Add a DVD Player and a TV Set, some wires and that's it!  There.  Done.

Karaoke on a PC is very easy to do, here is what you require:-
A PC of just about any standard
TV out card - Optional
Microphone
Karaoke files (CDG format is good)
Software to play the files - try http://www.karafun.com/ very small and perfectly functional.

Winamp also has plenty of karaoke plugins including some that can put webcam pictures on the screen.
