just wondering - anyone on here actually buy game pcb's rather than use mame?
-
many people do. Basically, look at the arcade misc board.
-
Rather than? No. In addition to? Yes.

I mainly buy PCBs, especially for the newer games such as Tekken Tag.
-
i only buy pcbs. can't say i have a big collection, but i buy a game, play it to death and then sell it on. the ones i keep are personal favourites so it's likely they'll stay with me forever.
ps- it seems like such an alien concept to you that people "actually" buy games on pcb?? ??? to me, it's the whole point to owning a cab.

I am an "in addition to" as well ... most of the JAMMA stuff I buy is current / not emulated well or specialty controls (gun games). I have also bought classic boards for cabinet restorations and NAOMI / MVS stuff.
I started coming here just to build a MAME cabinet, but found all of this other stuff ...
Cheers.

I buy mainly NON-Jamma PCB (old Original classics, like Donkey Kong, Popeye, QBert, Pacman..etc..) , i have few jamma but game which interrest me are mainly non JAMMA.
I buy Lot MVS Neo Geo too. I like this format... it is very easy to store!
In fact, on my mame cab , i have only roms i have the PCB or the MVS. I use my Front End and MAME , only because you don't have to unplug and plug the PCB when you want change game , and for some PCB i don't have the JAMMA convertor... so.. mame.
Sometimes i use mame with a ROm i don't have the PCB , in fact, just to test, if it worth to buy it or not.
I own about 40 PCBs (30 NON Jamma) and 80 MVS in my collection.
