A few threads have spun off into dvd coping lately and I have some specific questions. I want to do two things. I would like to copy a 9.4g dvd to a 4.7g. Dvd shrink will be in the picture but I'm not sure at which point. Is there freeware that allows me to just rip and burn or a combination of a few programs?
Also I want to do the most basic cut and paste video editing, Is there a good free program for that? A friend was in a few movies and I want to edit his clips onto a dvd.

I use Clone DVD in conjunction with AnyDVD. Works pretty well.

All you need for this is DVD Shrink. Search VideoHelp for tutorials on shrinking two DVD's to one DVD - much the same principal as what you're trying to do.
If I remember correctly (and I rarely do), you get DVD Shrink to make 'Movie-Only' DVDs containing only the sections of the DVD's you want (by selecting the start/end frames), then combine them into one DVD.
Edit: Oh, here's the Doom9 tutorial (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdshrink31-multidisc.htm) for putting the clips from several DVDs together on one DVD and selecting the start/end frames for each clip with DVDShrink. This tutorial is all you need to know- maybe putting each source DVD onto your hard drive with DVD Decrypter first would be a good idea.

I find it astounding that none on you pointed out to the original poster that copying dvds has absolutely nothing to do with arcade controls and therefore he should have asked his question on, oh I don't know .... a DVD forum.
I mean no disrespect.... it's just how do you expect to get good advice about dvd copying on an ARCADE forum?

I don't really participate in other forums. And people seem to get help on anything they ask here. I'm going to give DVD shrink a shot and if it works out then I made a great choice to not deal with finding a forum, registering and checking for a response somewhere that I don't normally go. If it belonged in everthing else then the mods should have moved it. But it seems okay with everyone that it's here and the title is very clear. If you're opposed you didn't need to click it at all. And if you're even reading this then you came in laid down some negativity and then checked back to see how it went. Please define what trolling is if it's not that.
If someone asks for music editing software in the audio section I'd be happy to talk to them about wavelab. I have lots of experience. It turns out that there are lots of smart people here and they all want to help. Most of them even have some social skills. Anything computer related will get a response from someone who has tried it for themselves. I'm happy with the responses and have some things to check out.

Hay it was a software question.
you will like dvd shink, also get dvd decryptor.
some movies dvd shrink can not do.
just decrypt the dvd and shrink the file instead of dvd.
I find I use dvd x copy, dvd shrink, and dvd decryptor . if one will not work one of the other 2 will.
