Title: wrong size t-molding
Post by: dogg0 on June 22, 2005, 09:26:45 am
I am building a cab for friend with mostly spare parts. Buying new t-molding is not really an option, I would rather just round the edges with a router. So... here is the problem. I made the sides of the cab from wood that is 5/8" thick (I got it for free!), and I have a lot of 3/4" t-molding lying around. Anyone ever trim the t-molding to fit 5/8" wood? Any ideas to fit it on there?

Here's what I would try. Put the tmolding on before you paint. Use the edge of the wood as a guide and trim the excess off with a razor. Then remove the t-molding & paint. Never done this mind you, I'm only saying what I would try.

I'll try it! (on a small peice of wood first)

A flush trim router might work better to trim the necessary 1/16th" from each side.
