I'm considering wiring up a cabinet's control panel using multicore cable with 25 wires, and 25 pin D connectors. Has anyone had success with this, and are there any reasons why I shouldn't do it this way?
EDIT: It's to an IPAC btw.

I do this. I took a 25-pin extension cable and cut it in half, so the color coding on both ends would match. Make sure you use an extension cable; a serial- or parallel-specific cable may not have all 25 pins connected.

Good idea, I'm thinking of buying just plain 25 core cable by the metre, but I shudder at the thought of soldering 25 pin connectors. I've done it before for other projects, it takes hours :(

I whacked a SCSI cable in half, and used it on my AKI.
I had the female part off of an old SCSI card to use at the AKI end of it though.
That got me two cables from one.
