Title: Is this the right ACT LABS gun for MAME?
Post by: thetered on June 21, 2005, 04:00:55 pm
I am trying to buy a ACT LABS gun for my cab that will work with an arcade monitor.  On act labs site it says they are sold out so i'm looking for a used one.

Is this the correct style?

If not, does anyone know where to find one? (or has one to sell  :))

That one is pretty guaranteed... not to work with MAME. It sucks big time. It's nothing like the PC Light Gun. It doesn't use mouse emulation. I think it uses cheapo joystick emulation or something. I bought a set for cheap, but it didn't work. Others will agree.

I've read on this forum that someone got one of the guns working with analogmame (?) however I had one and i couldn't even get it to shoot right on the supplied game Top Shot.

Yeah I managed to get one gun working in MAME32, but it really didnt work very well...it shot and all but i had to force resolutions in order to have an accurate calibration.  If you turn on the joystick option guns 1 and 2 act as the same joystick.
