Title: Wico + Joint venture with "Perfect 360"
Post by: m3talslug on December 13, 2002, 05:35:28 pm
Who is "Perfect 360"?  I thought HAPP made the Perfect 360 but based on that flyer from WICO, one would think that Perfect 360 is an independant company.

I don't think Happ actually make anything. They are just distributors.

I bought some Perfect 360 conversion kits for the old style Wico leaf joysticks and the documentation that came with them suggests that Perfect 360 is a separate company. However I cannot be sure of this.

I was speaking to a local arcade operator today and he said that the 360 controls were more trouble that they were worth.

He had a couple of conversion kits laying around (just the part that repalces the microswitches) that he would probably let go cheap. Should I look at getting these? I'm pretty happy with the switched sticks at the moment but I have no basis for comparison.

I'm not sure why he'd say that. The only downside to optical controls that I can think of (apart from price if you buy from Happ) is that they cannot easily be used with a scanning matrix. So if you decide to use them then it is best to avoid a keyboard hack.

If he's selling them cheaply then I'd snap them up.

If this guy has a pair of perfect 360 conversion kits for cheap then where is he located at? I'll RACE YOU OVER THERE !! :D. Even if you find that you don't like them (can't imagine why) you could just sell your converted sticks on Ebay and probably turn a nice profit ;) Then go out and buy yourself some new sticks (some mechanical rotarys and an interface from Druin maybe? ;D )  Ofcoarse you'll have to kick in a few of your own bucks for that setup but what I'm saying is never turn down a good deal. If you don't like them, their is always somebody who will so you shouldn't have any problem unloading them.
Just putting in my 2 cents.
