Here is my rough draft, any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions on how to make it better?

You may have constructed the perfect layout.
I could easily see 4 people comforably playing with out any problems at all. You may want to patent the design and go into business with that. It will revolutionize the industry for sure!

That makes my head hurt
Where's the tron stick?

The button layout on the tron CP is very well thought out....LOL

I have several.

I particularly like how you have angled the front of the panel in completely random fashion. It contributes to the asymmetry of the "layout."

I'm going for a nice ergonomic feel...

I think you should make it lean to one side (like a Wacko CP) as well.
That will help highlight the asymmetry of it all.
-
Also your button colors seem to be in "groups" mixing them up would be better. Perhaps even use buttons of several types and sizes. This will make it easy for blind players to differentiate the buttons.

OMG, that is too friggin funny.
I mean, funny in the sense of... why didn't I think of that?
The simplicity of it all.
I always tell my wife that life is so much easier since I quit caring.

I built a cardboard mock up and so far it's working great, the only change I have made is moving player 3's button 2 down 1".

I don't think it's big enough. Don't sell yourself short, there's plenty of room on the left side to expand and add driving controls and a Star Wars Yoke. Also, 3 analog controls would probably be beneficial.

You are also missing a 45
-
I also think you might be able to ad a 'Whack a Mole' hole on the left side. Don't forget the foam mallet!

And where the hell are the Mahjong buttons?
