Title: Need to connect PC to Gauntlet Legends monitor
Post by: soslo on June 20, 2005, 01:14:26 pm
I've got a Gauntlet Legends cabinet with 12 play hours on it!!! I want to mame it (without destroying the original parts)...and the part I need to figure out is how to hook into the monitor.

I believe it says K7500 on it. It's a 27" medium resolution.

Any ideas? I was thinking about ArcadeVGA...but I've never used one (always used big computer monitors).

Thanks, -Aaron

Do you plan on continuing to play the Gauntlet Legends?

Not at the moment...unless there is an easy way to switch the sound/video/controls easily...

If you're not going to be playing the game, the monitor ought to have mode switching. Most med res monitors I've seen are able to switch back to standard res. Then it'll work just as you'd expect any other standard res monitor to. Without more details on the monitor, though, I couldn't tell you how to go about doing that.

It's a Wells Gardner 27K7501, 27" 25Khz medium resolution.

The arcadevga will not work with a medium resolution monitor.  The modes built into the arcadevga are for a standard res monitors.  If it has mode switching as AlanS suggested then you could go that route.  The gauntlet legends board is capable of outputting standard, medium, and vga modes so you could still play the original game regardless of what resolution the monitor is set to.  If it doesn't have mode switching then you will have to use advancemame or you could buy the video converter from happs.  I have heard the quality is good but it is around $200 though(and I think it is made by ultracade  :P).
