Title: Display on Monitor in my cabinet is green

quite often when i switch on my cabinet (jamma) the display on the arcade monitor is nearly always GREEN.  Sometimes it'll just go to regular colour whilst playing, other times not.

Is this something straight forward to repair?

just been doing some research.  is it likely to be the gameboard?  is there a way of putting the cabinet in test mode to test colours?

What game board are we takling about?

Certain boards have colour/convergence tests.

it's zero wing by toaplan.  it sounds like it's a loose wire somewhere as it does sometimes just come on in full colour.

i play to convert it to mame so if it's knackered i'll replace it with a big computer monitor

Hmm...

sounds like an edge connector(JAMMA) problem

1. Try cleaning the JAMMA connector
2. while the game is on wiggle the wires/connector, look for anything happening.

is it ok to wiggle the board whilst it's connected up and powered on?

what makes you think it's the board/connector? (i'm just interested)

Yes, it's ok to wiggle the connector as long as you dont take it off the board while the game is on.

also, I think it's the board/connector because I have hadeproblems similar to yours with dust/dirt being on the connector pins, or maybe there is a loose pin/bad solder connection on the JAMMA harness.

thanks again qbert. with any luck it'll be the jamma edge connector that needs a clean. i dont fancy trying to trace wires in the jamma harness

Why not? Just Google for the jamma pinout and you'll be able to find which wires are Red, GReen, Blue and Sync pretty quickly.

i s'pose.  would it be quicker to trace the wires initially from the monitor to the jamma connector?

there are no wires connected to the red green and blue inputs on the jamma connector.

it's actually working ok now but shoudnt some wires be connected to the rgb inputs?

btw, move this to the monitor forum.  There are a few guys there who are !@# amazing!

And there is a chance that you don't have a standard jamma setup (sounds that way).  Yes, the R, G and B should go to the RGB.
