Title: MameMarquee - Cut out sideart
Post by: ginno on June 19, 2005, 08:33:42 pm
Hi guys,

Im thinking about getting my side art printed @ mamemarquee, because the artowrk is a large 'G' i want to then cut the 'G' out of the vinyl and stick it directly onto the side of the cabinet.

Questions is:

Has anyone done this before, will the thickness of the vinyl be a problem? please if anyone has had any experience / feedback please let me know.

Cheers.

I haven't had side art printed, but I don't see why it would be an issue. I'd think you would want a nice thick piece of material.

Their side art printing is great!  It could easily be cut with an exacto knife.  I had mine printed larger than the cabinet and cut it down this way.  It wasn't hard at all.

monkeybomb,

did your side art cover the entire side of the cabinet?

i am worried having the sideart only covering the bottom 1/2 of the cabinet will leave a nasty looking line where the side art ends and the cabinet begins.

Cheers.

Well sideart is printed on white material. If you leave a seam, you'll very possibly see it. Assuming the color of the cab and the color where the sideart ends are the same, perhaps running a paint marker along the seam will hide the white. As for the fact that there's a line, that's inevitable. I don't see a way around that.
