It depends what game you're trying to add a button to, you might need a kick harness for extra buttons or the jamma harness might have another button wire not in use.

First answer what game it is for and why you are adding the button.

Ok, how many buttons are currently on the cocktail?  Why are you adding this one?  Is it going to be a button that should fall in the realm of jamma?

My new PCB has 19 games in it.Moon Patrol you have to jump,so i need to add that second button. When i get my Kung Fu Master board i'll need to kick.It is a Jamma harness.

If you only have one button hooked up you should have two more on the jamma harness you could use.

you need to hook up through jamma harness.
See a jamma pinout.

I'm not trying to be a smartass, but since you are asking a fairly basic question about wiring, do you know that you have a *Jamma* harness installed (if you do, then great).

The main reason I ask is that a Jamma harness is typically pre-wired with at least three buttons per player, so you would just need to take the wire from the appropriate pin on the Jamma harness and connect it to the button in question. There would be no need to connect anything to the Jamma harness itself.

What kind of cocktail cabinet do you have and what boards (preferably more specific than multi-game) are currently running in it ?

A good picture of the harness itself would help a ton in clearing things up.

Cheers.

EDIT: I wrote this much earlier in the thread and didn't hit submit at the time, I guess. After reading the entire thread, it sounds like perhaps your "Jamma harness" is missing the wires in question. In that case, we would need to know how the wires are connected to the  connector (e.g. could be soldered, could be molex-style, etc.). A picture would likely get a quick response.
