I went to work last night and the guard stopped me before I entered the building. He told me to wait there while he called out a supervisor. The supervisor told me to go home and come back in the morning....
Well turns out one of my co-workers who continually tries to put everyone down in a joking way got upset because I put him down in the same type of manner and whined to the supervisor about it the night before....
They said I brought hostile feelings to the work environment and told me I needed to change my ways or I'd be out the door......
Well I told them "fine, I just won't communicate with this guy except for only when it pertains to work"
they told me that I still needed to joke around with him and not alienate him.... ??? WTF
man I can't stand it when someone can dish it out but then not be able to take it and almost cost someone their job over the same thing that they do.........

Fight fire with fire. When your co-worker puts you or someone else down in a joking way, run to your supervisior and tell him that your co-worker is creating a hostile environment.
I don't really advocate "tattling" on co-workers, but it sounds like a no-win situation and he already opened the floodgates anyway.
I'm glad I work in a place where we can practically make each other cry without interferance from management.

You have to be really carefull who you insult in a joking way in the workplace, the owners don't need a lawsuit and it's much easier to just fire you.

Just tell the boss the guy came on to you and said he'd make up stories and get you fired unless he had his way with you. Scratch your thigh beforehand and say he did it when he tried to grab onto your boys.
You'll never see the guy again... unless he goes postal on you... then run.

Are the two of you the same race? If not, which is he? I've found a lot of places that will do that sort of thing always defend the minority because it's so easy to bring a discrimination lawsuit now.

Man the first time I saw that I watched it for at least 5 mins just laughing because the kid's got no clue what's goin on! Anyways, whine back, dont do anything but complain. Anything else, can and will get you fired, you fight fire with fire...the wuss way. This will get the guy a nice talking to by the boss and Ill bet he wont talk to you much anymore...

1) NEVER EVER talk to HR people. They are all SNAKES. It's part of their job to be SNAKES. When they pat you on the back, they are just looking for a soft spot to stab.
2) You will not change anybody's minds. It's FUTILE to try. You don't have any power or you wouldn't have been chastised by the jerks in the first place. You'll come off a whiner.
3) Don't talk to the co-workers. Hell, that's what got you in trouble the FIRST time. Duh.
What good will that do? They will just give you moral support.
4) You can't win against the MAN. You have to be the MAN.
Since this is the greatest economy in the world, there is more than one job in it.
I suggest that when the crap gets too much, punch up Monster.com and pick up the newspaper. Also, dropping some resumes at headhunter's offices doesn't hurt. It's a very big country with so much opportunity that millions of illegal aliens storm our boarders every year just to be a part of us :)

management and HR are all pretty much taking his side, but all the co-workers have taken my side and let their feelings known to management that they feel I'm being treated unfairly.
So what exactly did you say?
Clearly there are people here who are willing to take your side without having any idea about what specifically happened. But I'm curious to know exactly what it was you did. Did you say you'd hit him with a pipe? Did you say you weren't going to share your dessert with him anymore? Did you say you were going to go rape his daughter?

I just merely made jokes at his expense and laughed at him for forgetting to put a ticket in a fiberglass sleave he was building (which we all forget to do sometimes, and are laughed at by whoever catches it)......

You keep ignoring the blatant point being made. It has nothing to do with being CAUGHT whatsoever.
You can do whatever you want to as an American.
You aren't realizing or reading anything beyond that. You're missing the entire point that Fredster and Shape are making to you. You're free to do whatever you want - but consequences may ensue.
You're missing the part where they POINTED OUT the probability of consequences for one's actions, and running wild with your belief of what they're trying to say.

Sounds like this whinging co-worker is a bit of a nancy / momma's boy, I personally would hang $hit on him everytime there are no witnesses and carry a mini tape recorder with you and catch anything incriminating he may say at you, I also recommend upping the ante with a bit of physical intimidation if possible, he's obviously insecure and you've beaten him at his own game. F@?K him!
I recently was having a bit of trouble with a fellow employee who was giving me a bit of $hit and I noticed he had some sort of germ phobia, he was always washing his hands all the time and I recalled a time someone touched his hair he freaked out a little, anyway one shift he started up and I warned him to stop but he didn't, he had himself a bit of an audience and was obviously enjoying himself at my expense, later on when there were no witnesses I reminded him of my warning and grabbed him, put him in a headlock, ruffled up his hair and gave him a juicy wet willie, he freaked out but never gave me $hit again.

Flinging dog poo with a shovel is a very satisfying action if you hit the target.
Sitting on your porch waiting for the cops to show up is less fun but when you realize they're not coming, you will laugh.

That is soooo beautiful. Looking for the weak point, waiting for it, and then pouncing when he least expected it.
