Title: different ways to get 5 volts???
Post by: alphasqorner on June 15, 2005, 12:26:28 am
I have a situation where I bought a AKI Analog Kontrol Interface (http://dave.bit2000.com/aki.html) and I have 2 spring loaded pot controls (taken from a World series baseball arcade unit) and I need to supply 5 volts to them....

This World series control panel will be it's own controller.  This is just a dedicated "World Series Baseball"-type game controller.  So I won't have an IPAC2 to tap 5 volts from.  And I would prefer not to have to tap into my computer's power supply for the 5 volts.  Does anyone know of other ways to supply the 5 volts.  I basically want a solution that will allow me to bring this controller anywhere and just plug the usb in (and maybe an electrical plug into an outlet) and it will just work on any computer (for Mame Games).

I hope I am somewhat clear... Thanks in advance.

almost anything that gets power, keyboard, mouse, usb, etc.  There's a 5v line all over the place.

Um, the AKI already supplies the voltage you need, you don't need a separate setup, unless your AKI is somehow different than the one I used to have.

lol.  you're right.  I didnt notice that the board itself had the 5+ connections already on it.  I just studied the wiring diagram and noticed that I did need the +5 and assumed it needed to be from an outside source.  thanks for pointing that out paige!
