-
Anyone?! ???
-
You know.. it might be better to keep all of your Gamepad Hack questions in the same topic ;)
-
Ok but can someone answer?
-
This should be the link. Happy researching.

Also, check the faq on the main page of this forum.

-
mmm thanks but i was hoping someone could look at the links i showed, because im in the UK, and that arcadecontrols site is US
-
*Edit* I did check your links. All the answers are freely available on other parts of this site.
What I mean is, just check out the FAQ on the main page and here and you should not have any more questions like these oft-answered thrice-stickied type questions. Also, there is a search button at the top of every page on this forum. I would start with the FAQ.
Good luck.
Cheers,

if you have some cat-5 or hard drive cable lying around why not just use that instead of buying wire
If you don't have anything at all just make sure to use something small enough to solder onto the pad without spilling over to the next trace
-
Here we go. Google is useful.

He taught me the most about hacking PSX pads and wiring stuff up.
Check it out.

oh yeh thats a good site, cheers. i'm ok about what wire to use now (cheers IntruderAlert), but i still need to know what size QD's would be ok for MicroSwitches? http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/cat.jsp?ts=68777&id=101874

You want .187 Red Female QDs for the regular wiring, and Blue .187 Female ODs for the grounds. Peale sells both from his website for a fraction of most other prices, just look for a heading in the B/S/T forum about quick disconnects and he'll link u to the site. Click connecotrs in the upper left corner and then order either a 50/50 pack or 100 of each. Depends on how many you'll use to determine which to order.
-
Kool thanks but im in the UK and QD's here are called "Crimps" and they dont seem to be measured in sizes such as ".187", they're measured in sizes such as "6mm" ... ???
-
you could just solder them you know ;)
-
yeh but using QD's/Crimps seems neater ;D
-
Has anyone got a close up pic of wire soldered to a gamepad circuit? ???
Also is is entirley necessary to use HotGlue? ???
-
If the buttons came from Ultimarc they are probably 1/4" spades so you'll need .25" (6.35mm) female QDs. If you got the buttons elsewhere (Happs) they could be 3/16" so you'll need the .187" (4.7625mm) QDs. Measure the spades on your buttons before ordering any QDs, or you'll be unhappy with the results.
If you can't wait for your QDs to be delivered, and you have .25"s you can find packs of 10 in the automotive aisle at your local Whatever-Mart. That pack of 10 will cost about what Peale charges for 100 though, so it might be worth the wait!

hah that last one is extremley convenient ;) but i think i'll be using this one to help http://wrongcrowd.com/arcade/joystickp2.shtml it looks exactly the same as the inside of my gamepad, which i just opened
-
if ur going to use converters.. i highly suggest finding an A series dualshock and buying it... it's less work, and works with every converter out there... digital pads like urs are limited.
-
limited?
-
his pad is made for PC already I think
-
yeh it is, USB
-
then you won't need a converter
-
Also is it entirley necessary to use HotGlue on the gamepad board?
-
no, you will want solder
-
Ah I have just found out that the MicroSwitch's i'm getting have 4.5mm spades, what size QD will I need for these (in milimeters please ;D)

looks like 4.7625mm to me
-
OK cheers, but I cant find that size, its a bit too specific! Do you think 5mm would do it?
-
I don't see why it wouldn't be anything but fabulous
