I recently fired up what I thought was a good working k7000 only to discover that the image had split horizontally. think of the picture as being drawn on two combs with their teeth facing--it looks like the combs have pulled apart, leaving a duplicate image with solid overlapping areas. I thought maybe the sync was off so i tested with H- and V- tied, and then separate--no difference. Any thoughts?
I was using a known good jamma board to test with.

Either the horizontal hold control is way out of adjustment, the monitor needs a capkit, or you have a medium res version being used with a standard res signal.

Thanks ken, I'm pretty sure is a standard res monitor (at least outwardly it looks like one--is there a particular component that would be a dead giveaway in this?) I will have a look at the horizontal hold pot and eventually get around to doing a cap kit on it..

Are you sure it's not a Med res? it sounds like you have the same monitor thats in my APB cab and that runs med res.
