Title: Monitor repair courses
Post by: unix4hire on June 11, 2005, 09:45:50 pm
I'm interested in learning how to repair monitors, tvs, etc.  I see week long courses around the nation periodically but I can't afford to go off somewhere for this training.  I'm sure it can't be that obscure; can someone point out some places around town that may offer such training?  I've checked with a couple of technical colleges but most of them offer a full-on electronics program.  I'm especially interested in learning (in a classroom environment) about cap repair and troubleshooting tips.  thx for your advice.  --Erich

Randy Fromm is the only course I know of for Monitor Repairs.

If you can't attend Randy's classes, he sells some excellent instructional video tapes.

My randy fromm dvd package came yesterday, and I watched the first 2 dvds. They are pretty home made quility, but the input is really good. Alot of the dvds are actually shot while he was instructing the class, its like going to his class except in your living room.

hope this helps

Actually, his classes are more than is on the videos, he doesn't show you the test setups and hands on work they do.
