Title: off topic - PS2 steering wheel
Post by: gajaman on December 10, 2002, 08:12:58 am
I have a PS2 in my cab primarily for driving games and have a Ferrari Thrustmaster steering wheel. Problem is that the "dead spot" when the wheel is centred is too large, that is when I want to turn left or right I have to turn about 30 degrees before anything happens. This makes it impossible to drive accurately as either nothing happens when I want to turn or I go flying off in a spin!

There is no way to configure the wheel like a PC one.

Two questions-

Are all PS2 wheels like this or is mine just not right?

and

Any ideas for a fix?

Thanks

Are you sure theres no dead spot calibration? Either a sliding switch or somewhere in the software?

Nope, no calibration switch or knob, and as its PS stuff no software...

I would try opening the thing up and taking a look to see if there is something you can do physically to fix the extra play in the wheel.
