I know that the favorite is Photoshop but will Paint Shop Pro do the job?
I'm looking to design my own marquee and control panel, I will probably be using Corel Graphics Suite for my vector work. Possibly some side art and bezel in the future.
Need to be able to send it to Mamemarquee for printing when I'm done.
Don't want to buy pirated software and would prefer not to spend $300 or more for something that I'm not sure how much it will be used in the future. I've tried bidding on ebay for older versions of Photoshop but there are a lot of people looking to buy a cheaper version of this.
Another question is will I really need it if I'm using Corel Draw? The feedback on photo paint was poor so I'm not expecting anything out of that.
Don't have any existing work so I'm starting from scratch. Suggestions and recommendations?

Yeah it's fine. It's just "different" and perhaps harder to get help since less people know the software as well as they might know Photoshop.

It's all about the Corel PhotoPaint. ;D
(And here come the retorts.)

Get the GIMP. Its free and does everything that PS and PSP can.

If you use CorelDRAW you won't need a bitmap editor like Photoshop.
But if you feel the need for bitmap effects then you could use Photopaint. It is integrated with CorelDRAW.
BTW does mamemarquees accept CorelDRAW files? Converting to Illustrator is quite a pain. I think both Corel and Adobe make this conversion as much a nuisance as they can.

Is it easier to convert to tiff in corel draw? I can accept that fine.

Photoshop CS 2 v9.0 is lovely to use.....it even supports *.ai files now straight in without the need to convert to eps.
Very nice!

I'm almost certain that it will save to a .tif file. I also found this information on Corel's website:
Improved file compatibility
Open and save more than 100 file formats, including Microsoft
