Post by: nyconx on June 08, 2005, 02:07:02 pm
I am looking for a simple software program or even a way to identify my mame roms.

If you could even tell me how you tell what game a file is for yourself without loading it in mame would be a help too.

Thanks

www.romcenter.com (http://www.romcenter.com) and www.clrmame.com (http://www.clrmame.com) are both Rom Management type tools.

But it really depends on what you want to do and how your roms are stored. If the roms are Split/Merged (typical) selecting 1 rom may not make the game playable without the parent set.

You could always use http://www.emuchrist.org/mamemerge/
to merge your rom sets and then you don't have the split/merge issue. Or you can check the online database at

http://www.mameworld.net/maws/

to manualy sort your games.

More clarification will get you a definitive answer though.

WinROMIdent is the best for ID'ing what roms go to what games.
And, it's drag-n-drop.
