Title: What's the proper button hookup for a SFII type layout?
Post by: 2PacMan on June 08, 2005, 11:35:57 am
I'm using and IPAC2 and have a six button layout for SFII, MK, etc.

I remember reading somewhere that the default button values for SFII and MK are backwards??  Like which button do i hook up as button 1,2,3,4,5,and 6??  If i remember correctly, it went like this--  4  5  6
                 1  2  3

Instead of the usual 1 2 3
                                 4 5 6

Is that right??  I guess what i'm asking is what's the best way to hook up the IPAC given a 6 button layout....i want to also play non-fighting 2-button games like final fight, and TMNT without them feeling awkward about button placement.  Or should i just manually reconfig. SF2 and MK to keep the buttons at the normal 1-2-3 placement for the rest of my games.

The Mortal Combat pic is from a MAME control panel pack... I think it was from mame32 qa, and the second is my SFII cabinet which was converted from Zaxxon...

Anyways, i hope they give you an idea.
