Title: ???? on sanding enamel paint
Post by: Fig on June 05, 2005, 03:24:15 pm
As the topic stated.
What is the best grit of sand paper to use on enamel?
I would like to have a really smooth finish.
Also should I clear it when Im done painting? Im using gloss enamel already would there be much diff?
Thanks,

I found a few topics that people used 220 grit paper so I'll give that a try  :D
I'm looking to get a super shiny smooth surface.
Thanks

If the finish is good (not flaky or rusty) you can cover it with a shelac based primer which sticks to glossy surfaces, then put your new finish coat of paint on after that.  I've used Zinser products in the past and they work great!   Sounds crazy but it really does work.
