Title: What happened to "Full Screen"???
Post by: nickbuol on June 04, 2005, 07:55:36 pm
OK.  I've been out of date for years with MAME, now I upgrade everything and games that used to be "full screen" runing with simulated monotr bezels and so forth.  Pac-Man, for example, used to vertically fill the screen (sides not filled obviously on a horizontal screen), but now ir had graphics of a ghost and pac-man on each side and the "instructions" and "monster points/extra points" info, thus squishing the actual pay area down.

I get the same results in MAME32 (.96), Windows command line MAME (.97) frontended with MAMEWah and the Windows command line MAME (.97) frontended with ARCADEOS...

Any ideas on what I am missing here?  I did a search, but came up with a lot of odd threads that didn't help.

Thanks!

Turn off the artwork.

I have no problems with adding artwork to the screen when its in vertical raster, its just empty space anyway. But e.g. frogger where you minimize the gameplay window to around 40% of the original is just plain silly. It may be original artwork, but ---fudgesicle--- it gets so small! :( i hate, and love, this feature...

Thanks!  I knew that it had to be something simple.  Works great!  Back when I first built my cabinet, I never downloaded the artwork pieces.  I jsut had the screenshots for the menu systems, but nothing else.  Of course, that was back in the days of dial-up modems, so it took longer to get files, so it was a minimalistic approach.  Now, years later, with high-speed, or better yet DVDs (if ya know what I mean), I've got more stuff than I know what to do with...  Heck, my original hard drive was only 6 GB, and it was only half full, now I've got 4 GB free on my 100GB arcade only hard drive...  WOW...
