Title: Zaxxon
Post by: Scott on June 02, 2005, 07:16:53 pm
I recently picked up a Zaxxon game for $1.  It doesn't work but I figured you get what you pay for. When I plug it in a single line of zeros and garble shows up on the screen. If I reset it the screen goes blank completely. Any clue what could be wrong? I am thinking of having someone look at it.

Same thing as everything else, reseat all socketed chips.   That will probably fix it.  If not, measure the voltage at one of the eproms to make sure it's getting a full 5volts.  If it is, then you can pick up another board on ebay fairly cheaply.  If not track down your voltage problem.

My best is $20 in quarters in a Universal  Eggs machine I paid $25 for.  Usuallly I just find tokens and dead animals.  I did pull about 100 tokens out of a zaxxon once,  they have a really good spot for catching them.

I didn't explore it all that much.. maybe there is more. I really want to play it a few times before I sell it.  It is in my store with a nice $400 price tag on it. Told the wife if it sells for that I will let it go... In other words its not going anywhere for a little while.

A guy I know wanted to sell me some cherry master machines and two Bally Dixieland pinballs. He was a little high on the price though.
