I'm coming towards the end of my Donkey Kong cocktail restoration. The coin door had been pried off and the hinges replaced with big ugly cabinet type hinges. Getting the door back to original as possible, it's time to paint it. The cocktail has a texture like an orange peel. I looked at some hammered finish paint but it doesn't match at all. Any suggestions? Don't think it will be noticeable?

That finish is a result of a painting process called "powdercoating". It's a process that requires spraying a powder, and using electricity to make it "stick" and then you bake the item in an oven...
Search for "powdercoating" or "powdercoat".
If you want to skip that process, there's a variety of ways to sort of make an imitation of it. Some say to spray a coat of textured "stone" paint. Sand it down so you have no sharp peaks, then spray satin finish black on top.
Others are just as happy using a "hammered finish" spray paint.

Witchboard, there's a place in OKC that does powdercoating and their prices are very reasonable IMO. Only problem is that I can't for the life of me remember what they're called. They may not even be there anymore, it's been a long time since I've used them. I had a set of wheels done and the price was very right. Seems like they might have had the word wheel in their name. Anyway, check the phone book, you should be able to find them if they're still around.

I wasn't looking to have the whole thing done, just the part I had repaired and maybe shoot it with some matching brown paint. This is a low cost restoration and I'm afraid if I have the whole thing powdercoated again it would cost more than the finished project would be worth. It's worth a shot to try the sanded stone paint, if that doesn't work out I guess I'll just skip the texture and paint it normal.
