I now have a mountain bike and I don't really care for it much. I want my old bike back. I used to have a Skyway TA that I loved. It was light and strong. My friend had a pink Hutch. Both were stolen.
I also had a Kuwahara which I had never heard of before my brothers "bought" it for me and sold it to my mom. It needed work and I was too young at the time so we brought it to a bike shop and they said it had to be licensed before it left. A few weeks later, some cops came by and took it back to the person my brothers "bought" it from. Damn drug addicts. (My brothers I mean.)
Anyone else into bikes when they were young?

Started with a Norco Duster, it was the first BMX I ever saw. My last bike was a chrome Hutch. I can remember changing out the pads and number plate every year when the new 'spring line' arrived. Life was much simpler back then. :D

LOL.

LOL. What do you mean "When you were young"?
Skyway Street Beat. Nothing original besides the frame/fork & bars. I still have it out in the garage. It's what put me on these crutches :-[.
I also had a Dyno, GT, Haro, Redline, and a series of Huffys & Schwinns. Nothing ever came close to the Skyway. It has some goofy rake angle that you either love or hate. I took whatever parts worked well from the other bikes and grafted them to the Street Beat over the years (P48's, Haro Neck, etc.).
I did the mountain bike thing in college. Couldn't keep one together long enough to enjoy it. They just kept breaking.
Skyway/Hutch/Kuwahara... pretty rare birds in my neck of the woods. I knew of one other Skyway (Street Styler), one Hutch, and to this day have never seen a Kuwahara in person.
I should have traded you the Skyway for the cab! Bummer! If I had only known.

I had a Mongoose, loved that bike...
The rest of the guys I rode with had a Redline, Torker, Hutch, JMC, and a GT. I gave up riding when I got my license in 85'. ;D Hard to put a girl on those hard plastic seats.

I had a dino detour along time ago that got stolen. In high school started racing bmx had a gt robinson w/ aluminum rims. The rims cost twice as much as the bike was worth. all my friends had balance hoffman.

My first bike was a Sears (with plastic gas tank!), Huffy, PK Ripper, Hutch Pro Racer (flight cranks, beartraps, bullseye hubs, very nice!), white Haro Master, General, black Haro Master, GT Pro Performer, chrome Haro Master. First MTB was a Cannondale, Kona Hot, Answer Manitou full suspension, Soma Groove.

How do you go off jumps with that yellow thing?

I had a 20" Huffy ... when it was stolen ...
:o
j/k
I had a huffy that I painted that mongoose blue, but I cracked the neck off of it when I rode off a dirt cliff and landed face down while still on the bike. It was a hill/jump a couple days prior, but somebody dug half away and didn't tell me. >:(
Does that yellow bike have an original "Cheater Slick" on the back?

Wow! This one caught me off guard.
I had quite a few bikes... First decent one was a Mongoose, one of the bogus ones where only the front triangle was chrome-moly. Weighed about 40 pounds with MotoMags on it, but later it had Alloys, ACS Z-Rims, then finally Tuff 1's. I mangled a set of the supposedly indestructible Z-Rims in one weekend. Folded them clear over and snapped the flange off the hub. I kept bending alloys, but I was addicted to light bikes. The Tuffwheels were really the best thing going for me.
Later on I had a Kuwahara that I traded for a couple of BB guns, also a GT, the original one with the rear triangle wrapped through the top tube. This was right before freestyle took off. My best bike and favorite bike was a relatively unusual one, a Thruster Vansihing point. That bike was awesome. Chrome plated chrome moly with blue alloys and 3 piece cranks. Probably weighed about 20 pounds, and I wasn't much heavier. ;D
I have a mountain bike now (Stump Jumper M2 Comp), but I don't ride it much. I got into off-road motorcycles as a teen, did the BMX and dirt bike thing for a while, but now I'm mainly into that.
I have some real old pictures of me going up over branches set up as a "pull up" bar. I was a good four feet off the ground. I was all gangly with long hair and an Iron Maiden T-shirt. Good times! ;D
Edit to add: Had to do a net search on the Thruster since it's probably been 15 years since I've even heard the name. This dude has a bike that was identical to mine except I had the chrome frame, and I wouldn't have been caught dead with blue tires. I was hardcore! Hah. Thanks for the memories J_K_M_A_N!

I had whatever cheap thing my dad could pick up at a garage sale for $5.00. However, I had a neighbor that worked for the outfit that made the decals for Mongoose, and he would bring home loads of decals, so whatever bike my dad came home with got cleaned up and became a Mongoose... :)

Mongoose, PK Ripper, and an E.L.F.(Extra Light Frame)
My great-uncle was the owner of ELF so I got one for free. I regret giving it to a friend when I got into mountain biking...ELF has since gone out of business. :-[

I used to jump stuff Evil Knievel style all the time. Trashed the bike in the process, which is a shame as Krates in good condition fetch $2000 these days.
