i'm in the process of making a cab out of mdf. it's final home is going to be upstairs in one of the spare bedrooms. presumably the overall weight of the cab is not going to be an issue is it? i'm going to finally assembly it upstairs but i was thinking more of the final weight upstairs when it's done.

No, won't be an issue. If your house was built to ANY sort of building codes then you should be able to stack cabinets wall to wall without even getting CLOSE to what it is built to hold.
Remember, a cabinet weighs in around the same as two people (or lighter cabs more like one person), and spreads it's weight over a much larger area than a person does.

thanks mate

Now, if he has 400lb people playing the game, that goes from 300lb to 700lb in a small area much faster...

One problem you might have if you assemble it upstairs is moving it later on if you move.
Moving a 300 pound cab downstairs can be tricky
