Is there a way to sort the games in mamewah/snes?
-
What exactly do you mean by sort?

By genre, letter, year, similar to MAMEs sorting abillity with catver
-
This is not currently possible for Console stuff using MameWAH. Or any other FE that I'm aware of. I think it's one of the most needed items in the emu community.

Wasn't Screaming working on a project for this? I thought he was developing a catver file or some sort of database...or has that project been disbanded?
-
Listgen.NET works fine but it needs a catver.ini file to fill in the fields in the database. What is needed is an equivalent of catver for tens of thousands of console roms. As yet, nobody has undertaken this monumental (and monumentally dull) task. All that's possible at the moment is sorting by the flags generated by goodtools and since that only encompasses rom status and country, it isn't nearly as useful.

Hmm.. It doesn't have anything to do with MAME vs. Console ROMs, if I understand your question correctly.
ListGen, ListGen.NET and MAMEWAH Config can all sort your ROMs however you want, but MAMEWAH will re-sort them alphapetically on the fly. Minwah has stated this is intentional behavior, and he'll consider adding this as an option if/when he updates MAMEWAH with a new game list format.
Basically, this is a limitation/feature of MAMEWAH and can't be changed :(

P.S. As for the console catver, I started a project for that (http://www.bluecamel.org/software/catver/) but I didn't work too much on announcing it. The summer's here and it's hard to stay focused on this "indoorsie" stuff ;) ). It's very much an open project and if you want to help out, I have the infrastructiure to take submittions all set up at http://www.bluecamel.org/software/catver/ . Feel free to check it out, categorise some games or check up on the latest progress. It's a needed catalog that's currently unavailable, and I'm committed to providing it. Just as soon as I can :)
Oh, send me a DAT file for platforms that are not already listed and I'll put them up there for everyone to take a gander at.

screaming, that project would take forever... but if the whole community helped it could only take a week at most...

It seems that the NES and SNES sections of that page you posted arent working - they're timing out. (the download and test links)

Is this still up-n-running?
-
Seems the web page is there but not really...working. (as I said above awhile ago :) )
Would be nice if it did work and this got completed.
