Title: command.dat updated for MAME version 0.96u2 and beyond.
Post by: Procyon on May 25, 2005, 07:34:12 pm
The latest version of the command.dat has been updated to take advantage of the new codes and glyphs that have been added. This change is the result of a lot of hard work between Ceio, BUT, and Mamesick, the authors of zetaMAME, MAME 32 Plus, and MAME 32 FX respectively. Thank you guys for taking my suggestions in to consideration.

Any user of the command.dat using version 0.96u2 of MAME and beyond will want to grab the update. Users of previous versions of MAME can still grab a legacy copy of the dat, but it will not receive anymore updates.

Authors, please drop by the Author's Guide page for an updated glyph guide, and a list of code changes, and I'm happy to report: no more comma-space bug.

I love the functionality of command.dat, but I was wondering how often the listed commands are reviewed. I ask because I've been using it less than a week now and I've already noticed several mistakes.

I.E., the last one I noticed was for MKII. I was playing Raiden and it listed his lightning bolt move as using a kick button, when it actually uses a punch button.

I was also wondering about completeness of move listings. Is the aim of command.dat to provide a detailed list of all moves available to each character in each game, or just a breakdown of the main special moves? Again I ask because while playing Marvel Super Heroes, it seems only the most basic special moves are listed, while a lot of air moves, combo/combo breakers, etc, etc aren't listed.

Don't take these questions as deriding your work. I really love what you've done so far. Keep up the good work!
