A friends got a problem with Outlook and I can't figure it out any suggestions I may not be thinking of:
He's running Outlook Express on windows 2000 and here's the problem:
He's got 7 emails that are in his outbox folder. Everytime he opens Outlook it sends the email to the recipients and then it continues to resend them over and over. He's getting an error on his machine saying there is a problem sending the email but the recipients are recieving them. They can not be deleted or moved from this folder. He is also getting blank email from himself to his inbox. I've ran virus checks, spyware checks, tried deleting them, tried moving them and can't seem to figure it out........
These emails were also written on different days.........
any help or ideas would be appreciated.........

I tried using a different version (office outlook 2000) but when everthing imported over to it so did the emails in the outbox.

I've had this problem when trying to send emails that are over my ISP's size limit. They keep sending, dying, and retrying.

Had the same problem. I realized that my website host didn't allow me to 'send' mail through their servers (probably for spam prevention). So I had to set my Outgoing Mail to my internet provider's SMTP server. Worked like a charm after that.
If that's not the case (and it's probably not if you're mailing through your ISP) then you may want to go to TOOLS --> ACCOUNTS, click the mail tab, choose the account, click properties, click the Servers tab and check to see if the settings are correct. Consult your ISP for proper settings.
BTW - If you are 'receiving' e-mail then it's definately an SMTP problem.
