Title: Bunch of games for sale in Portland, OR
Post by: Magnet_Eye on May 24, 2005, 04:51:24 am
Hey, just a shout to let people in the Portland, OR area know about some arcade games for sale.  ;)

I went and saw them today, bought one for myself. I also have a list of what is available.

The woman that has these for sale has some set prices for certain games, but most others are probably $100. I do have pricing & info for some of them. A few of them do not work, though they should be fairly simple fixes for most (fuses, etc).

Mappy
Donkey Kong Jr. (really nice restoration. probably wants $700)
Robocop - $150
Carrier Airwing
NBA Jam (4 player, 25" monitor. non-working. make a great mame cab) - $100
Contra - $100
Lethal Enforcers (nice cab. 25" monitor) - $350
Black Tiger (pac-man cabinet. you can see the yellow peeking through)
Centipede Cabaret (cool! but i think she wants $700-$800)
Neo-Geo Cab w/ Bust-a-move (4 cart, seems to be in a robotron cab. still has robotron bezel)
Atomic Punk (nintendo cabinet) - $250
In the Hunt (non working, reason unknown)
Cruisin Usa (sit down cab)
WWF Superstars -$150
Street Fighter II
Toki

There you have it. I think she really just needs to get rid of these, and is workable somewhat on the prices. anyone that buys one of these owes me a cold one.  :D

She has a few of these listed on craigslist. I really wanted that neogeo but since its not even in an original cab doesn't really appeal to me anymore (also my funds won't allow it). Thanks for the heads up on some local stuff Magnet_eye!

huh, i thought i was relatively alone in the northwest...guess not.

thanks for the info too.  wish i had more money to blow on the hobby at the moment, but my current cab usually takes that all from me.

There are the four of us (that I know about) in the Portland area.

Well, i'm glad there are the four of us, cause I just moved to Portland from a remote area in N. California, and I was the ONLY one there!  :'(

Maybe sometime we should all get together at Ground Kontrol or something and nerd out.  :P

Anyway, I really wanted to buy that NBA Jam, it would be an awesome MAME cab. Nice big 4 person CP and 25" monitor. But I took a smaller cab instead. Not ready for the commitment of the big 4 player yet.

I have a new monitor on the way, for my next home-built, so I don't really have the room/money at the moment either.

magnet, you should really change your location...it still says your in some crazy californian town/city.  i was wondering what nba was talking about when he said 4.  as for a meet-up, i'd feel out of place due to the fact that i'm probably the youngest of us all, although i've wanted to get up to ground kontrol ever since i heard about it.

How old are you Flinkly? I'm 21 and I feel kind of young on these boards, or maybe its cause I'm just starting out in this hobby  ;)

And nobody here is asking about the woman???

A WOMAN WHO COLLECTS ARCADE MACHINES is mentioned here... and nobody is asking any questions.

Heck, I'm married... but I can only dream that my wife secretly wants to collect enought arcades where we have to sell some to make room for all the cool new ones (maybe she came home to suprise me with some pinball machines... yeah! thats the ticket).

Heck ... I'm just happy my wife hasn't flipped out (yet) about the three cabinets that currently pin the dining room table against the wall (been there for 3+ months).

I did promise her that they would make the trip downstairs when I bring home the Galaga and Donkey Kong projects.

Do you think I'll be able to convince her to move the table instead ?

No, I don't think so either.

Cheers.

I just bought the Contra! Sound doesn't work but I got a good deal on it I think? ($50) Anyways she has a few games left; mappy, that NBA JAM, donkey kong and Lethal Enforcers. Anyways thats what I saw in the storage unit. Anyone have any ideas on the sound problem?

Ah cool. $50 is a good deal. Hopefully the sound is an easy fix.

I bought Darkstalkers from her for $100. I'm gonna mame the cabinet though. It has a 25" monitor which is why I bought it.

I was thinking about picking up the black tiger, but not sure if i want another right now. The black tiger is in a pac-man cab, which makes it a toss up. restore the pac-man or keep the black tiger?  ::)

I''m kind of in the same fix right now, a few weeks ago I bought a Super Mario Bros. in the Pac-Man Cab. I've been debating on the restore issue for awhile, but i'm leaning toward leaving a converting Mario just cause I like to play it more than Pac Man and I don't have the money to restore it. Whatever you decide Magent_Eye better act fast from what she told me all the unsold games are going to one of those "top dollar paid for games" type places tomorrow.

I went and took a peek at the Atomic Punk, in the DK cab.
Atomic Punk (a.k.a. Bomberman) is my wife's favorite game.

The cab was repainted in DK blue, but didn't have any original art left on it, had a generic CP, and a generic marquee, so I didn't see any reason to pay that kind of money for it.

I saw the Black Tiger too, but didn't see anything special about it either.

Yeah, nothing special at all really. Accept the black tiger is pac-man, and you could possibly remove the black paint to reveal the original sideart and then start scavenging for pac-man parts. bleh.

For $50 though, seems decent price for a cab to mame or have around for the heck of it.

I was in a town called Arcata, in Humboldt County near Eureka. About 4/12 hours north of SF.

Arcata!  I just took a dump there a few hours ago!

No, really, I was camping at Patrick's over the holiday.  (You missed the Kinetic Sculpture race, man!)  Beautiful place, but I miss camping on the South jetty- shame they blocked it off.  We used to go over for the race every year and camp right where the road comes down off of the cliffs- the sculptures all parked and camped around us.  Those guys knew how to party.

I live in Redding, BTW.

LOL. The kinetic race is a good time. I lived there from 1994-2005. I have seen it many times. Actually, the town has many cool festivals on that plaza that kick ass. I do love the place, but it's a little too slow for me and what I am doing right now.

I love the area. It's amazingly beautiful. Trinidad beaches are awesome! Patrick's Point is a good time too! I do think I will go and retire there someday. It's that kinda place sometimes....and hot college babes too! hehe!

Hey Magnet, My wife and I also just moved to Portland from N. California. I have to leave my cab behind, but I plan on starting a new project soon. I'd totally be down for nerding out with fellow retrogamers. Maybe we can get some other people from the list, some brews, and play soem games.

Well, i'm glad there are the four of us, cause I just moved to Portland from a remote area in N. California, and I was the ONLY one there!
