Title: win xp shutdown screen
Post by: wrench on May 23, 2005, 05:05:32 pm
Does anyone know how to change the blue "windows is shutting down" screen in windows xp pro.I've found countless programs to change the start-up screen but absolutely nothing on the shutting down screen.I've taken another posters advice by using an old additional pci graphics card and leaving my monitor plugged into the agp card,it works great for hiding the bios post report and windows start screens.I just wish I could get rid of the darn shutdown screen.

This may help (can't recall exact source):

Disabling the blue Welcome screen and startup/shutdown messages:
Change from the default windows XP welcome screen to the older style by going to Control Panels>User Accounts>Change the way users logon or off. Deselect the "Use Welcome Screen" checkbox.

To get rid of the startup and shutdown messages via regedit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Policies>System
If there's a DisableStatusMessages dword there, change it to 1, otherwise add it and change it to 1.
