I've decided to release my MAME marquee to the masses after a great deal of demand and email complaints for not sharing nicely. Reference this thread for more info: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,12011.0.html
Here's the marquee:

If you would like it in hi-res form there are three things you need to do. 1- email me and I'll email the marquee back to you. 2- Send a pic when you have it in your cab 3- Give credit when you post.
I've also found some spare time to release the first, of hopefully many, attract mode videos. Reference this thread for more info: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,27402.0.html
Here's a picture/storyboard of what happens:
It still needs some tightening, here and there, but I hope to release a series of these that will play as "Attract Modes" while the machine is not being used.
To view the video, click this link:

The video is Rar'ed, so you need winrar or similar to open. Video is an mpg1 file, so it should be viewable to everyone.
Please give constructive criticism and comments only.
Thanks,
Bryce

The images are being squeezed down by the site- is there a way to have them show at 100% that I'm missing?
-
The video is sweet
-
that video is super sweet. It needs sound it would make a great mamewah movie intro.
-
Hi all
Have have unzipped this file and placed it into my mame folder to use as the intro to mamewah, the problem is it does not play the clip.
I have put it into the mamewah ini file as d:\mame\intro which I think is right, does it matter what player, plays the file the default is real player.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

The video can easily be converted into another format. What is the best quality and format for mamewah?

I second this... ANd make it a little bit longer?

That video rocked! Great work. Is there a site that has a lot of this type of stuff? That's probably a very noob question, but my cab isn't even done yet so I haven't even begun to delve into Mamewah.
-
Yes, I'm hoping to add more characters and give it more of a buildup.
Oh, and audio. ;)
-
Holy crap that video is SWEET!

You did a great job with the video. Have you tried slowing down the movement through the characters? It is almost too fast to pick up who they are. Of course that may be my 40 year old eyes. I like the red beam coming from Cyclops but then it transitions to a pink/purple. Could you keep it more red or where you specifically looking for a color transition? Finally for the marquee the blue MAME text looks good but how about leaving it a red color since it is coming from Cyclops?
Just a few random thoughts you might want to consider. Overall it looks great and would make a great intro movie. I'm still trying to figure out what would make a good soundtrack for this.

I got bored Friday, so I thought I'd try my hand at a little video editing....
Added some music to the video and slowed it down some, just as a test mind you....
Full props to Bryce for all the hard work..... ;D
anyway, hope it's downloadable, using one of those free sites...LOL...
It's in RAR format and about 3mb so..... let me know.....

I second these comments. But my eyes are fine. I really wish there was slow movement throught the characters so I could see them all. The part that says MAME should be much shorter than passing the characters.
Great Job!!!
Are you good with sound would this be a new area to you?

This is great are there more like these? and how do i use them? please someone throw me a bone! would love to get this on me cab :D

Ok... did some work on the last one.....
-Slowed the walk though the characters down.
-Changed the MAME color to purple.
-Shortened the MAME at the end.
Give it a try...... and as always...... PROPS TO "Bryce" for starting this off..........

Let me know.....
And as far as setting it up in MAMEWAH...... you might search the Software section or post a question there......

I made the video fast to show a preview. I hope to add more characters and more theatrics to it later on this summer.
For those interested in the marquee, you can download it straight from the web now.

Do you guys really want the mame logo in purple?

Just a thought. Is it a MAME logo you were working with or a graphic you created? How about having the logo be red and then do a swipe transition to a chrome with some smoke coming off of it so it would look like Cyclops had blasted the logo out of metal??? Maybe too much work but just another thought.
Thanks for your willingness to share the marquee.
I know that it is in RAR format but when it is uncompressed is it an AI format? As the author of the image do you care if we make some modifications to it as long as we give you full credit for creating the original effort?
-
The RAR archive will uncompress to a PNG. It's print-ready as is. I'm not ready to release the PSD to the masses yet. Plus it's like 150 MB. This is an all raster job as the images are taken from MAME screenshots and I used a resolution trick to keep the same blockiness they had in the original game.
I'll release a new version of the video later this summer with more fx and perhaps a few other surprises.
