Title: MAME games you may have not played - Dark Horses
Post by: stellarola on May 22, 2005, 03:24:37 am
Hey, guys. I was randomly going through my MAME rom list just trying to play something different and I came across a handful of games that I've never played but think you all should give them a go.

Arabian Fight
Warrior Blade : Rastan Saga Episode III
Ultimate 11
Space Bomber
Sengoku 3

Try em out, they were a blast!  :) Hey lets keep this thread going with other games that people probably haven't heard of that are great games. "Dark Horses", if you will. I would love to play some great games that are new to me and I'm sure others would to.

I was pleasantly surprised at the Sailor Moon game. Think Final Fight with no weapons.

Yeah, my sister-in-law was into Sailor Moon when she was younger and I found that.  Loaded it on and we played until we beat it.  Then I think we played again.

If you want to play the most appropriately named game of all time, try The Irritating Maze. Shuuz, Shuffleshot, Pnickies and Cameltry are all fun too.

Wind Jammers

A sports game with...frisbees?  Great Fun and really intense as the game goes on.  I laughed at the concept but couldn't stop afterwards.  Its Pong...evolved  ;).  I remember when I found it and I only played neogeo games with a gamepad, I had blisters on my fingers afterwards  ;D.

Rush & Crash (a.k.a: The Speed Rumbler) (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9381) a spy-hunter'esque drive and shoot where you can jump out of the car and fight ala'Commando.  Plays great even with just an 8-way joystick!

Captain Commando - another Final Fight type beat'em'down.  Any game with a Baby in a Mecha suit has got to be good.

Tondemo Crisis - a wacky Japanese game, runs great in Zinc.

I also love these type of threads!

OK I just discovered a fun one. It's called Lady Killer. Unfortunately it features nudey pics. Anyone know if there's a "clean" version with no girls at all, so I can play this with the kid?

Try out "Super Glob" It is weird and fun... It was a Pac-Man conversion and feels very old school. It has elevators and porkers :o

Now you'll have to check it out ;)

Okay let's give this a kick!

I already posted this in another topic, but these kinds of threads deserve the attention..

Sokonuke Taisen Game; a REALLY weird, sadistic 'sports' game which reminded me a lot of Creatures fron the Commodore 64
( http://www.vgmuseum.com/images/arcade3/02/255.html )
Vendetta (highly underrated Final Fight clone!)
Wakuwaku 7 (2d fighting with some humorous moves)
Twinkle Star Sprites (frantic 1VS1 shooter)
liquid kids (really nice platformer)
Railchase (mining cart + 2 guns = FUN)

Please people, keep 'em coming  :D

boy, there was this really fun game I tried the other night.  I can't come up with the name of it, though. You're kind of in this big blue maze that has a bunch of little ghost-like things running around. You need to avoid the ghosts and then eat all these little dots.

Damn, now what was the name of that game...

I started playing Search Eye last night, and kept thinking to myself "This would be a great game for my nieces and nephews to play when they come over!"

45 minutes later, I realized that I was hooked...  "Just a little more time, dammit!  Where is that freaking mushroom hidden???"

The music is catchy as all get out too!

I'll add one to the list...Aqua Rush!  If you liked Tetris styled puzzle games, you may like this one (even though the sound's a little choppy around MAME (tm) v.94).  I'm thoroughly addicted!

Reverse Tetris, and you get to change the shapes of the bubbles with the buttons!  It may take a time or two to get used to the controls, but VERY addictive!

Was gonna say Juno First, too :).  Used to play it 20 years ago in the arcade.

For Juno First, I recommend setting it to hard skill modes. Otherwise it's too easy.

Guwange - Japanese samarai shooter
In the Hunt - attack sub shooter
Last Blade and Last Blade 2 - two of the greatest fighting games ever made
Legend of Silkroad - pretty good sidescrolling fighter

Think that Bagman (Le Bagnard) is underrated.  Had fun playing it in the arcade 20 years ago.  Play it now from time to time too:)

Add to it Super Bagman, Naughty Boy, Jump Bug, Ironman Stewart's Super Off-Road (was fun playing with steering wheel) and Mikie, too hehe
