Good question. The 17x13 is for the cocktail cab side art. It might be good to make the image 600 dpi, just so we could double the size if needed (maybe we would use it on the upright or on a banner).

Although if this contest works out we might I might do a second contest for the upright arcades.

Another great question. All image rights will transfer to Dream Arcades LLC. In exchange for the prize we own the image.
The main reason is it would dilute our brand if it started appearing on other cabs. How about this though, I will send several copies of the full sided side-art to the winner though for his/her personal use.

You don't have to use the logo (the blue upright arcade on our website) at all. Although you can if you wish. Also, you can change the font. I wanted to leave as much as possible to you guys.

Lots of people have good ideas, but not everybody has the talent to back it up. Of course, it's usually talent that seperates the winners from the losers.

It doesn't have to be ready-to-print, but let's say mostly complete. If there are a few elements are not finished yet, it's not a big deal (especially for vector art). But the submitter should have it full sized and almost ready to go.

I went back to submission #2 re-worked some things, drew up a cocktail version, threw in some classic 80's checker tile, added a slogan to get people to recall their youth, and changed the font. I know I have a few ideas kicking around myself, just not sure if I can render them properly since it's more illustrative than what I normally create.

Or the kids were playing and loved the "cute" little charater which causes a "mommy / daddy I want that...can I have one...please...pretty please" effect. Anyway, it sounded good to me ;)

but I do have ideas, and from ideas come suggestions, and thus I bring this up:

I'm noticing a large amount of pictures of cabinets and the website plastered all over the place in the submissions so far.....I just thought I might bring up that the contest is to design artwork to be stuck to the side of the cab, therefore a picture of an arcade cabinet is kind of moot, obviously it is in fact an arcade company :) And while having the site in the sideart is a good idea, it doesn't need to be so prominent as to drawn out 3 times

Really all i'm doing is reminding the contestants thus far that this is for sideart, not a new logo, or an advertising campaign

....Think more along these lines, what would look cool on the side of your cabinet in your house

now as long as that idea is family approriate, all is good :)

No, Dream Arcades is probably not registerable. We'll have to do like MAME room and call it Dream Arcades designs or something. For the side-art Just Dream Arcades in good.

I'll go ahead and extend it to give everyone a chance to work on it over the long weekend.

The only real difference is the stars, so you can even count it as 1 if you want.

BTW: I definitely like the darker blue better.

I guess it would be midnight PST, but Honestly I probably will not even be online then. I probably will not take a look at the board until tomorrow morning.

I am deeply offended, as is Mrs. Charlotte Rae. She was doing you a favor by offering her likeness and this is the treatment she gets? Someone needs to teach you about the Facts of Life...perhaps Mrs. Charlotte Rae would be willing to do so.

these have been all designed in a vector based program so can be made to any size without losing resolution (cos they are not photos).

they should stand out pretty well on black background!

Post by: DreamArcades on June 05, 2005, 06:12:12 pm: First off, I have to tell everyone what a hard time we had picking a winner. At times the discussion became so heated we eventually voted by secret ballot, which ended in a tie.

In the end, we shrunk each entry and used Photoshop to digitally paste it on the side of the arcades. This helped us figure out which contrasted the best against the cabinets.

The winner of the $100 gift certificate is: Skybluestav.

The rules did state that we might extend the deadline. The reason we offered prizes was to get as many entries as possible. I had always planned on offering extra prizes, but I figured that we might extend the auction or even have two winners, so I was trying to level set expectations.

and who exactly are BYOAC members? because I joined that day makes me a non-byoac member? (my first account when i first joined this website its about the same time as u joined, check for a member called tzatziki)

and whats your problem anyway? Mike replied to you that he had stated in the rules that he could changed the deadline, and also that he had Private messages from other members who wanted to have a go!

Well it just looked as though you joined the board to enter the contest, as you had to be a BYOAC member to do so. But I see that you are actually building a cabinet and no one else seems to have a problem with the way it went down so ignore me.

Post by: pcb on June 14, 2005, 01:59:24 am: For your Cocktails, why not just take a Midway style overlay and put your logo on it in place of Ms. Pac-man or Galaga? You could do the same with CP overlays. I personally don't like Side Art on a cocktail. Seems just tacky to me.
