Hi yall. I wanna build a dedicated pinball game, but I've got some questions first. I don't know what vpinmame is capable of since I don't have it or the ROMs.
1.) Can it be played in vertical orientation to increase the size of the playfield?
2.) Can the playfield and back (scoreboard) be split into different monitors?

Generally no but it might work for some tables. Some objects will not align properly with the playfield when not played in a resolution with 4:3
aspect ratio.
2.) Can the playfield and back (scoreboard) be split into different monitors?
The playfield and scoreboard are 2 separate windows. If your windows desktop is extended to a second monitor you can drag the scoreboard there.

or you could just use my version 4 wrapper which has dual scren support (prelimenary, better support will follow once my own dual screen rig is finished)
*edit*
Sorry, didn't even notice the full question. NO, NO NO.......
Visual Pinball is "2 3/4 D" meaning that the table's angles can't be manipulated and thus it'd be completely impossible to build let's say a "fake table" and make it look right on the display.
Also your vertical quesiton was answered in my hardware rotation faq sticky. It ain't up there for my health. :)

Your lack of reasoning astounds me. You want to rotate it vertically, it's a faq on hardware rotation.... do the math.
