Hi everyone, I'm building a cocktail cabinet ( www.mikesarcade.tk (http://www.mikesarcade.tk) ) And I have a control panel which is the full width of the cabinet. I was thinking that I might mount a coin mech on the left "wall" of the cabinet, towards the top and closest to the front of the cabinet. Has anyone done this before? If so, how did it work out? I'd imagine that it wouldnt be too bad for one player games, as the player would just have to lean around the control panel a bit and put a coin in but for two player games, player one would have to insert a coin for player two every time s/he needed a credit (I cant afford to get a coin mech on each side, and two coin mechs is a bit dodgy).
Basically, what do you think of this idea?
Thanks a lot for your opinion ;)

You mean like a one-slot coin panel? Like this?

Sorry, yeah the one I was referring to is actually this one http://ozstick.com.au/prod_coinmechs.html its "cm01"
I think I'd set it up so all players get a credit when a coin is inserted

anyone there? :-\

What exactly do you need to know? You cut a hole in the side of the cabinet and put it in the hole.

I know that ;) But ive never seen a coctail cab with the coin slot on the side, only the front. What I would like to know is would this be practical, or annoying? I was hoping someone else had done it too so I could get thier opinion on a site mounted coin slot.

Only the midway cocktails have them in the front, almost all other styles have them on the side (the player 1 side).

Really? Cool. I suppose it must be functional / practical and such to have the coin mech on the side then :D I dont know why I havent seen the coin mech on the side of any cocktail cabs before...
Thanks paigeoliver, Ill go with the side mounting then :)

Probably because you have only been looking at examples here, everyone here copies the Midway cocktail.

Hey D5A1AC,
Another Aussie?

Here is my midway cocktail, with similar coin mechs on the side. Not sure if this is exactly what
you're after, but I have two coin mechs one on each side, and don't find anything dodgy about it.
All you need to do is make sure the back of the mech clears the monitor. You might also want to make it easy to
get the coins out, mines a bit difficult, as you have to pull the monitor out, but that means I don't empty out the coin boxes very often.

Yup, another Aussie. Actually I mean on the other side (i.e. the side facing more towards the camera on the first pic of yours), but I might mount it down really low like you have on the front of my cab, its just that the control panel is the full width of the cabinet and it might be a bit "fiddly" to insert a coin that way. I think I'll install the control panel first and just see where it is easiest to use before I mount it.
Nice cab btw :) Very professional looking, I'm going to have to get those stools from bunnings.
