This thing is more powerfull than my pc ATM.
When it comes out, I bet someone will come out with MAME for ps3 and it will be difinitely fast enough to play MAME Games :D

So by the time it comes out it will already be 2+ years behind PC hardware, and will then be produced until it is 8 years behind?

It is a multi-processor system and will get a lot of its performance with the use of special programming to divide gaming tasks between the processors. Would be great for having each processor emulate a specific chip for Mame but the programming to do that would not be a simple port.

Sounds awesome. Let's not forget that gaming consoles are DESIGNED for optimum graphics performance, unlike PCs which must be designed to fit a whole lot of standards and interchangeable parts.
I really happy it will have wireless controllers out of the box. Ever since I got a wireless controller for Gamecube, tethered controllers feel real primitive.

Ahhh just in time for me to incorporate into a cocktpit driving cab.

Have you watched the videos? My jaw hit the floor when I saw those! :o
Truly a system worthy of the title "next gen". And if you watch the whole press conference and see all the technical nuonces behind it, you can appreciate it even more! Dang, I wish I could see those videos in hi-def right now!

but the greatest new feature.. if you get pissed at the game and throw the gamepad it will come right back

I've just watched the whole Sony conference.....as for it being behind the computer market when it's released....I hardly think so.....this is a new chip...a new technology that Sony wants to integrate in all their products.....we'll be seeing the cell in TV's and other electronic components. And I like the direction they're taking with the new eyetoy.....interacting with computer generated characters.....the cup demonstration blew my mind....Imagine a new metal gear game where snake talks to you on the transceiver......that would totally rock.....
