Title: Displaying Z26 Game name (not rom name) in MAMEWAH
Post by: mumbles on May 15, 2005, 10:16:09 pm
Hello,

I have z26 up and running fine in mamewah but I can't get it to display the game name in the gamelist, I can only get it to display the rom name. Does anyone know how to fix this??

Thanks in advance

I believe you can make an NMS file, where you tell mamewah what you want each rom to be called. That might be quite an undertaking with the amount of a26 roms. Perhaps someone has already done so. It would be a great file to download.

Change the list_generation_method entry to Rom Folder in the Mamewah ini file for this emulator.

Plus, I don't think there's a consistent naming convention for 2600 ROMs, or for that matter a consistent extension (A26 vs BIN).  I only put the dozen or so ROMs I cared about on my machine, so creating an NMS wasn't a big deal...

I think the solution is to use GoodTools (http://www.allgoodthings.us) to rename your ROMs to something more readable.  Then having the list_generation_method in MAMEWAH set to rom_folder will give you a more readeable list.

GoodTools is a little confusing to use at first.  You want to download the GoodTools for your platform (Good2600 in your case), then you probably want to use the GoodGUI interface to help you out in renaming your ROMs.
