I haven't played any of the old trackball games from long ago, but I'm putting one in my arcade because I know I'll want to play them. The problem is, I don't know which size to get. I've never played Golden Tee, but I hear it's fun. But, if it's the only game requiring a 3" trackball maybe I should get the smaller one. Basically I'm looking for the input of the knowledgeable people out there to see if a completely new trackball user would be better off with the larger or smaller ball.
Thanks,

I have both a 3" and and 2 1/4, and i prefer the 2 1/4. this way you don't have to use your whole hand, rather just your thumb. That's my opinion....let's hear some others.

I've tried both sizes before, and they both work great. I tend to prefer the larger size so you can really give it a good slap with the palm of your hand when you need to.

I bought a used 2 1/4" and a few new 3" Happ trackballs.

I have used both and I am partial to the 3", just because it more versatile. I can play all the games with it, but with a 2 1/4 I couldn't play golden tee, shuuz, marble madness or shuffle shot that well. the small ball doesn't lend it self to games that need a good fast spin now and then.
In the end though it's preference. get em both if possible. then you can try em out. put the one you don't like in the BST forum.

Like NY said, if space and price weren't factors, I think the 3" would be a better choice (mainly from what I have read others say.)

Thank you all for your help! I'll probably try the 3" trackball. I think I should have plenty of space for it. If anyone else would like to give their thoughts, please do!

BTW - a used 4.5" translucent went on Ebay a few hours ago for around $35. Wonder why it went so cheap?
Armax must have missed it. :-X
