i am currently using Mamewah with different emulators on my PC monitor.Do i need an arcadeVGA ?
or is there any other possible way to do it.
-
I think certain video cards besides the arcadeVGA can do that w/ advmame or one of those similar programs (ArcadeOS comes to mind). Do a little research and you'll see stuff about building circuits, etc. But arcadevga makes it plug-and-play and easy set up. Pros and cons to both sides

But i don't think that Advancemenu or other front ends like ArcadeOS run with different emulators, like playstation games EMU,Sega genesis and many more. Here MameWAH is my need.

Seems to be some confusion in this thread.
Advancemame can program the graphic card directly but don't expect it to work very well in windows XP since XP doesn't allow applications to access the hardware directly. There is a driver in the advmame package that allows advmame direct access to the hardware but it is experimental and probably only works for a few graphic cards.
ArcadeOS is a DOS (mame-) frontend that can be displayed on a 15KHz monitor. It does nothing for other programs (including mame). If the program launced from ArcadeOS can be displayed on a 15KHz monitor or not is independent of ArcadeOS.
MameWAH is a Windows (mame-) frontend. It doesn't care about the graphics card at all. If windows doesn't work on the 15KHz monitor neither does MameWAH. Otherwise the story is the same as with ArcadeOS (i.e. MameWah doesn't help other programs to be displayed on a 15KHz monitor)
If you want to run applications that doesn't have native support for 15KHz monitors there are 3 alternatives:
1. ArcadeVGA, easiest solution
2. DOS. In the advcab package there is program that will force the monitor into 15KHz regardless of what resolution the applications tries to set. Never got it to work myself.
3. Windows. Powerstrip is a program that works like the advcab program but in windows. Whenever an application tries to set a resolution, powerstrip jumps in an reprograms the graphic card into 15KHz. This is the most difficult solution but it is also the most flexible.
(I use 3 and is very happy with it but let me warn you again, it is very difficult.)

wpcmame,thanx for this informaion.
As i already mentioned i am using Mamewah with different emulators
i am not taking about mame at the moment.
So advmame or arcadeOs can't really helpfull.
Windows frontends like MameWah is a very good choice to run several arcade and console emulators in a cab by using an arcadeMonitor.
I check for ArcadeVga,It is not available in my country and BTW Instead of buying an ArcadeVGA a PC monitor will reduce the CAB cost. :)
Here i can just try the 3rd method using POWERSTRIP.
Can you tell me something more about it.

So, you got PowerStrip to work well with a full cab?
What video card are you running?
If you have hwstretching in mame with mame not switching does it work well?
I tried getting it to work... but I think I had my syncs off. Could I get the desktop to run at low resolutions with it?

I'm working on a step-by-step guide but I'm far from finished.
Here is a snapshot
3.2 Verify that your graphic card driver works with an arcade monitor.
Obviously you need a VGA compatible monitor to perform most of these actions.
(If any of the items mentioned below isn't available, your graphcs card/driver doesn't support custom resolutions with powerstrip. Not much to do but get a another graphic card)
1. Right-click on the powerstrip icon in the taskbar and select Display Properties/Change
2. Click on advanced settings
3. Click on "Custom Resolutions".
4. Go all the way down in the list of resolutions to the one that is labelled "640x480i (arcade)".
5. Select it and click on "add new resolution".
6. Powerstrip will now ask for confirmation and then switch to the new

WPC:
I'd love to see any progress on this, or any other tips on setting custom resolutions in Powerstrip. I've just started the process, so I'll post any results and findings, too.
I've got an old nVidia TNT and a JPAC, trying to get a dedicated vertical up and running. Thanks...
