Title: horizontal frequency question
Post by: skydemon on May 13, 2005, 12:34:01 am
Hey all, just a quick question...

Just wondering if all the people with duel freq monitors (15/25Khz) use the low or high setting? Im testing mine on high but it means I cant select a lot of lower res in advv due to the high vertical freq it usually specifies (100Hz or so) for 25Khz monitors. The only way I can see to choose these resolutions is to change the monitor to the low freq setting...

Monitors always display the same number of lines regardless of resolution.

In 25KHz your monitor displays ~350-400 lines and in 15KHz it displays ~240-290 lines.

If you display a lowres resolution (e.g. 320x240) in 25KHz it will only occupy ~2/3 of the screen.

(If you are interested in how to display the lowres resolutions in 25KHz anyway, I'll explain it in another post)

What are you using? Linux or Windows? What software will you be running? MAME?
